Organic Bunkie Boards

Bunkie boards are used to support the mattress when you do not want to use box springs or a box foundation because of the height. The bunkie boards are made with pine slats for support, corrugated board is placed on top to remove spacing, and then it is covered with organic cotton mattress ticking. These Bunkie boards are approximately 2" to 3" thick.

Due to the size of these, they must be shipped by a major freight carrier. Outside of the Southern California area, they are typically only cost effective to ship when ordered with a mattress at the same time.

Toxic Chemical Fire Retardants Used In Conventional Mattresses
Anderson Laboratories tested respiratory toxicity of mattress emission on mice. The data demonstrates that some mattresses release toxic (poisonous) chemicals into the air. The study found tested the fumes from several types of mattresses, especially ones with vinyl covers and polyurethane foam cores. The data demonstrated irritation to the throat, eyes, and nose. Some also had difficulty breathing. Some developed asthma like reactions. The study can be found in Environmental Health, 2000, Vol. 55, pp 38-43

Mattress Freight Quote Form: Customers are responsible for shipping charges. Customers are responsible for all shipping charges (one-way discounts on mattresses may apply for certain mattresses.)
Custom Mattress Form: It does cost more to make custom made items than our items listed on this site. When determining the custom size of a mattress, please make sure that there is room for error so that the mattress will not be larger than the frame. Mattresses are made by hand and the actual size can vary by 1" from the sizes that you send us.
30 DAY MATTRESS COMFORT EXCHANGE POLICY: Mattresses, except custom and layered mattresses, come with a 30 day comfort exchange policy. Mattress Warranty information. All of our mattresses are handmade and can vary up to 1" in size. We do not warranty allergies. On bedding products, we are unable to accept a return on bedding products once they have been used.
Freight Policy: Whenever signing for freight, always sign "SUBJECT TO INSPECTION" above your signature.

Mattresses (with the exception of the organic cotton innerspring mattress which requires a doctor's prescription) are fully certified by 3rd party testing and they exceed the requirements of the federal law 16CFR1633 without using a synthetic fire barrier. The law is scheduled to go into effect on January 2008.
